That awkward moment when....

....You mistake a lesson for a soul mate.

There's a saying that "when your heart is on fire smoke gets in your eyes", allow me to give direct interpretation,

When your heart is in love/ lust its hard to see what lies ahead, I guess this phrase also gives rise to the saying "love is blind".


For Many, our hearts have led us astray. we've engaged in relationships that we thought were made for a life time, but were proven wrong. Although it hurts to admit it, it hurts to forget or even remember it, these relationships were to teach and build our characters. All things are working together for your good because God is intentional, He never fails to make a message out of our mess. The hurts, the mistakes were all witnessed by the ONE I like to call the Beginning and the End.

A while ago, I (yes I ) made the mistake, I assumed the lesson God brought my way was my soul mate. The lesson was an average height, averagely built, God fearing (I think, no shade though!!) handsome dark young man. I was convinced ...so convinced, I began to make room and rearrange my life around him, emotionally and mentally. I'll admit I put God in second place technically (I'm ashamed), I didn't care to listen to what my Father (God) had to say about my new friend for life. I simply carried on blindly.

The Relationship thankfully didn't go anywhere but the pain was almost unbearable. Although it hurt to let go and let God, I learnt some irreplaceable lessons that I personally wouldn't trade for nada !!

1. Love yourself enough to respect yourself (in any relationship)

2. Don't let your happiness depend on things or people. reach for JOY, a settled assurance that God is in control, confidence that ultimately every is going to be alright (Thanks Rick Warren!!)

3. Listen to the voice of God, His voice should not be replaced with any other

4. The voice of God will NEVER contradict the word of God.

5. Teach your heart with the word of God, it'll lead it to do the right thing.

6. Who you are with has nothing to do with who you are, who you are however will DETERMINE who you will be with and how you are treated. THERFORE see your self as God sees you, allow no one to treat you any less than you are.

7. Don't ever think you're not good enough OR that you are cheap and dirty OR that you've failed just because as relationship didn't turn out the way you intended. Don't let it define you !!

*BONUS ... never sell your self cheap... you are worth the blood of Jesus = PRECIOUS and PRICELESS
