Road to Nowhere

Hi there Reader, it's been a while so I'll start by saying welcome back and perhaps how are things with you ?

Today's Selah is inspired by today's generation. A strayed generation, sadly has lost sight of uniqueness and purpose. On a quest to discover and conquer, we've only found ourselves on the road to nowhere.

From the media portrayals to societies expectations, all the signs lead to conformity and confinement. Self hate is running rampant.

Women are expected to portray a level of feminity and most importantly weakness is essential to identification. As a woman in this generation your body is essential, you are sexualised (an object of sexual gratification) if it weren't so then why is the media's attention fixed on lip injections, bleaching creams, bum pads (yes i said it), plastic surgeons who's goals are to help women feel better about their bodies by changing it (where is the logic???). Its all about her physical appearance, forget if she is intelligent, fears God or is compatible, its all about a banging body.

Men are identified by physical strength, affluence, six packs, cockiness, pride. A man is only considered so by this generation if he is "thug". Cheating is acceptable because its in their "nature" and chivalry is something of the past, after all a man only does this if he is "thirsty".

It's no doubt that the one thing our generation detests is being labelled the term "nobody".
Yet in trying conquer this label and become a "somebody" you end up fitting in so much that you lose your identity, you become a nobody. Pictures of young ladies on instagram, with botox fillers, eye brows fleeking, lips that they weren't born with, waist trainers and bleached or extremely tanned skins. Where is self love and worth? Perhaps it was thrown out the vehicle during the journey to destination Nowhere.

Don't get me wrong, self enhancement is fine, as long as you still recognise your own reflection in the mirror. Self enhancement is fine, as long as you maintain and remain the image that the Creator intended.

Don't be fooled

You keep trying to imitate others and soon enough you lose the reflection of yourself, therefore arriving at a point you've always avoided. You don't even recognise yourself, your morals, your values and your own goals. In the process of finding yourself through the standard of society your loose yourself. You misplace your uniqueness and become identical to the next person. Average takes the place of outstanding. Stagnancy takes the place of progress. Comparison takes the place of Joy.

Motivation derived from the success of others is futile, fatal and fickle. When others fail what becomes of your motivation and drive? it becomes deflated. What is YOUR purpose?? Forget about what society expects. How can you be you and be REAL in a generation where imitation thrives? Motivate yourself with your own life goals and aspirations. Forget typing "goals" under the latest celebrity image.  Focus on the actual goals intended by Calvary.

Our goals as society are being depleted, we seem have wrong motives and ideas. Our generation is sold on the idea that fake is the new real. In the midst of it all as children of Light, we've got to stand out. BE BOLD,BE YOU, BE REAL . Don't let any other opinion of you bring you down.

God wants you to radiate light  You can't be hidden or average.
You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.) Matthew 5:14.

God wants you to remember that you are royalty
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” 1 Peter 2:9).

God wants you to remember that He loves you just as He has created you
Psalms 139:14   I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.

Today's Selah Prayer Psalm 119: 29-39 MSG
Barricade the road that goes Nowhere;
    grace me with your clear revelation.
I choose the true road to Somewhere,
    I post your road signs at every curve and corner.
I grasp and cling to whatever you tell me;
    God, don’t let me down!
I’ll run the course you lay out for me
    if you’ll just show me how.
33-40 God, teach me lessons for living
    so I can stay the course.
Give me insight so I can do what you tell me—
    my whole life one long, obedient response.
Guide me down the road of your commandments;
    I love traveling this freeway!
Give me a bent for your words of wisdom,
    and not for piling up loot.
Divert my eyes from toys and trinkets,
    invigorate me on the pilgrim way.
Affirm your promises to me—
    promises made to all who fear you.
Deflect the harsh words of my critics—
    but what you say is always so good.

Thanks for Reading, Selah.

 My child, if sinners try to lead you into sin, do not follow them. They will say, "Come with us. Let's ambush and kill someone; let's attack some innocent people just for fun.Let's swallow them alive, as death does; let's swallow them whole, as the grave does. We will take all kinds of valuable things and fill our houses with stolen goods. Come join us, and we will share with you stolen goods. My child, do not go along with them; do not do what they do.They are eager to do evil and are quick to kill. --Proverbs 1 v 10-16
