What's my Worth ?
So This week as I starred blankly at my laptop screen trying to come to a decision on what to write about, I found my self constantly getting distracted by my appearance. I had worked 35hrs in 3days and there was no denying that the bags underneath my eyes were starting to look like they were inflicted by someone's fist.
I was scrolling through my Instagram feed as well as Tumblr constantly comparing myself to the girls that looked like perfection in my eyes, no doubt. I'd catch my self in deep trances having thoughts like "Why cant I take selfies like that" or "why can't I look more like her or even borrow that confident smile".
During my last shift at work, A co worker mentioned something to me that caught me off guard. She said "you should be modelling you know, you've got a gorgeous face for it " in her posh English accent. I looked at her like she was insane expecting her to turn around and tell me that she was just kidding, but nope, her face remained as serious as could be as she waited for my reply. I was reminded of a tweet I had seen a long while ago that read "you are so used to your own features, you don't even know how beautiful you look to a stranger". This quote was proving to be true by the looks of things.
The word of God says in psalm 139 vs.14 ;
As Christians we claim to believe that everything God makes is beautiful, wonderful and marvellous, yet we struggle to come to terms with our very our own beauty. Always trying to fix what society deems as imperfections. Influenced by the world's standards of beauty that we seem to have left behind the Creator who, Himself,has set the standard of perfection. We are constantly comparing our own features to that of others and second guessing our beauty and abilities. We forget that we are the centre of all He has created and object of all His affection.
Luke 12 :7 says that Our Father, God, has numbered each and every hair on your head (this alone blows my mind cause I've got a lot of hair mehn !!) and you are of more value than many sparrows. The fact that you have been wonderfully created means that you are above anything else that is ever considered unique or distinct. He not only formed you but you are His own masterpiece, the Master Himself created you to be his own master piece. He took time to mould you, unlike every thing in creation that He spoke to existence, He (according to Genesis 2v 7) formed man of the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and man became a living soul.
Genesis 1 v 31 says that after God saw every thing that he had made, behold it was VERY good. In other words you and I are very good and more importantly we meet HIS standards. You are the apple (pupil) of God's eye and anyone who harms you harms His most precious possession (Zechariah 2 vs. 8), how beautiful is that.
Lastly remember that you do not have to do anything at all to gain His attention and captivate His focus because He is indefinitely captivated and in love with you (Jeremiah 31 vs.3). The psalmist in Psalm 139 vs.1-4 helps us to understand that God knows us, He knows when we sit and when we stand, which means His eyes are never strayed away from us. He understands and knows what we are going to say even before we think to say it, which to me is just more than any Romantic movie or novel could offer.
The next time you start to condemn yourself, remember that;
If God had wanted me otherwise, He would have created me otherwise.
Thank you for reading

I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.

The next time you start to condemn yourself, remember that;
- You are worth every good thing.
- Worth more than rubies and diamonds.
- Worth dying for and worth the precious blood Jesus.
- Every "flaw" was considered even as He took up the cross and died in your place.
- Nothing can separate you from His overwhelming love
If God had wanted me otherwise, He would have created me otherwise.

Love, love love it!!!
