Chase Me like I'm the last bus home !!

I'm sure we've all been victims of this at one stage, we've all missed a Bus ( or Train) when we really have to get somewhere. I'm sure most of you have even missed the very last form of transportation back home or even came very close to missing it. In that case I'm almost certain that before you missed or almost miss it you did you absolute best (I'm talking running, jumping skipping, kung fu etc ) to avoid the prospects of missing it. This week you can be sure that I ran like Forest Gump at least 4 times after buses that I could have missed (thank You God for not letting my efforts be put to shame). I had 3 things on my mind while running
  1. The reactions of people around me as I ran (if you've seen me run, you know what I mean)
  2. The consequences of not catching this Bus .....My next Bus was in 45 minutes, it was ice cold, too cold to be just standing at my bus stop looking like a frozen blackcurrant.
  3. Lastly, I don't care what I have to do, after all this effort, I must catch this bus.
So this week I found myself comparing this common situation to one that we often neglect. Our relationship with God. Wouldn't it be so awesome if I longed after him, chased after him as much as I forcefully chased after those buses. If I was able to put aside the discouraging voices of those around me and just run right into His warm embrace. If only mehn !!

Our purpose for living is to bring glory to God on earth. We want to be able to say confidently like Jesus in John 17:4;
 " I have brought you glory on earth by finishing the work you gave me to do."
To be honest most of us want nothing more and nothing less than the above. I wonder if most of us share similar feelings to Apostle Paul.
Why was he the only one at the time of his generation that felt bold enough to say he was a prisoner of the Most High ?
It must have been a hard thing to do (clearly), He was indirectly saying that his life was not his,at all, to live as he wanted. He was putting aside all his personal hopes and dreams, his desires, needs, wants and  human ambitions. Striping himself bare of his previously learnt values, morals and lifestyle and taking on a Christ-like personality.
How I long for the day where I also will be bold enough to say "you know what GOD, you are in control of whatever becomes of my life" and sincerely mean it, whether good or bad, without questioning from time to time.

So many times we try to control what becomes of us. We try to predict our next move in life. This statement may seem all too familiar with a few of us
"age 21, I'll be a graduate, by 24 I'll be married and then I want to have X number of children"
 But do we think and say/ask ourselves;
What if that wasn't in the plan when God created me ?

What if I was meant to find that ideal man/woman by age 30? ...would I still be content if my plans didn't go accordingly ?
What if I didn't have children till I was 90yrs old like Sarah in Genesis 21:2 ? (Whoa!!! some of y'all were quick to rebuke that lol) .
See what we all long for is some miracle, breakthrough, earth shaking, ground breaking Wonder in our lives, like that of Sarah, but the process of this isn't particularly inviting.

Looking at the story in John 9, of the man who had been blind from birth. Jesus says that the Only reason why this man had been born blind was not because of his sins or that of his parents but that the works of God be made manifest in him. Bringing this back to the above statement, this man had to have some sort of challenge, "problem" in order for God to show his supremacy. Like wise in our lives the only process of getting a breakthrough etc. is by having encounters with situations that are uncomfortable ( I mean of course you wouldn't ask for a breakthrough, miracle unless there was something you needed to break free from or a divine intervention in.)

When I go through tough times what helps me remain Joyful is the thought that in the end God will show up and take His glory. God does not waste a thing, this is evident in 2 fishes five loaves (mark 6 v41...),  so you can be certain that He isn't about to waste an opportunity to make His glory known to all the earth through your tough situations.

This really gets me thinking if I am truly willing to lay down my lifelong plans so that his name may be glorified through me ?
If he asked me to quit my ambition to become a well known surgeon, accountant or entrepreneur would I ?
Am I willing to chase after Him like the last bus home on a cold winters night ?
To chase after His desires, His Plans and His purpose for my life and simply not give up until I am able to say that my life has brought glory to His name.
All that God requires of us is an opportunity to show what He can do - AB Simpson
